What's in your beach bag?

I love buying beach bags. Hawaiian designs & colors are so much fun. We women can even match our beach cover up or wrap with the beach bag design. I have been through many beach bags so far. Never regretted when I had to buy a new beach bag. Keoki would often say "Do you really need it? No, not really but I want it."

Speaking of your best Hawaii vacation, you got to consider what is the best design for your needs & tastes. Before telling you what's in my beach bag, let me tell you to buy yours in Hawaii. Beach bag selection in Hawaii is huge: buying a practical affordable at Walmart or a unique fancy pricey beach bag design at the gift shop of a 5-star Hawaii. Bottom line, we women love beach bags! OK, let's start the discussion:

What's in my beach bag?

1. Beach cover-up

Like all the other women, I choose carefully what cover-up to take with me to the beach on a special day. Probably depends on whether I'd just go for a beach walk or also want to show off a bit at the beach bar or seaside restaurant!

2. Water bottle

Not all the beaches in Hawaii have access to drinking water, and I prefer my special water. Best in an insulated container.

3. Flipflops

I don't like to drive the car to the beach in flipflops, yet they are the best beach ware on a hot summer day. The sand can be burning hot. Helps to have my flipflops in my beach bag.

4. Sunscreen (waterproof)

I must admit I don't go to the extremes with SPF 50, which is recommended my the dermatologists for Hawaii but a SPF 30 sunscreen is definitely in my beach bag. And remember re-apply is key after swimming. Waterproof label or not.

5. Sunglasses

Going to the beach I would never forget my sun glasses. They are actually already on my head and not in the beach bag. Sunglasses can be a fashion statement but forget the fashion for a moment. One needs the best protection against the bright Hawaiian sun and the glare from the water and the sand. Good thing that sun glass designer already came up with nice combinations of fancy designs with optimal eye protection.

6. Beach hat

I mostly stick to just the straw hat (provides a nice little sun protection for neck & ears) or the regular cap, which is easy to squeeze in the beach bag.

7. Book or magazine

I always have one or the other or both in my beach bag. I like to take magazines to the beach because they have a short life and don't necessarily need careful handling like a book. However, here is my latest observation: not many people read books anymore on the beach. Keoki carries his kindle to the beach and so do many other people these days. You want to protect those digital toys like Kindle, iphone or ipad from the sun & the sand. A beach bag with a separate zipper department is perfect.

OK I left out the beach towels and ??? Now, it's your turn to tell us 'What's in your beach bag?' Looking forward to hearing from you and your beach bag.
